Spooky Spiders per They Draw and Cook

Conoscete il bellissimo blog They Draw and Cook? ... bè se siete golosi e amanti delle illustrazioni dovreste.
Artisti da tutto il mondo inviano a questo sito delle ricette illustrate, scorrendo le pagine potrete comporvi un menu, cercare piatti esotici, ma soprattutto rifarvi gli occhi con dei veri capolavori.
Sono centinaia le submission finora raccolte ed è già stato realizzato un libro che raccoglie alcune delle più belle.

Seguo TDAC da parecchio tempo ormai e da subito avrei voluto spedire il mio contributo, ma non è per niente facile illustrare una ricetta e guardare quello che altri illustratori hanno già fatto è al tempo stesso stimolante e terrificante ... Pensieri del tipo "farò mai qualcosa di decente?" si annidano nel cervello.

Allora ho cominciato a pensare a qualcosa di super facile e che si potesse fare in famiglia ridacchiando e imbrattando tutta la cucina, magari con i propri bimbi .... qualcosa di goloso = cioccolato.

Ho mischiato un po' la ricetta per il salame dolce con quella delle praline di cioccolato di modo da poter fare delle "polpette" di cioccolata e poi trasformarle in animali, ragnetti in questo caso, con le stringhe di liquirizia per fare le gambette e gli smarties per gli occhietti ... ma si possono fare anche topolini e tutti gli animali che volete ...

Fare dei ragnetti di cioccolato era perfetto per Halooween e allora ecco i bambini che sgattaiolano nei miei costumi preferiti ... ie il piccolo Spiderman ;)

@___@ poi ho un po' modificato ... ovviamente mi ero fatta prendere un po' troppo dalla passione per l' horror ...

Ci ho messo parecchio a finire questa illustrazione per loro: ritagliandola nel tempo libero tra un lavoro e un altro e quasi disperavo di riuscire a inviarla per Halloween, ma eccola lì e inserita nella Happy Halloween collection fino al 31 ottobre.

Do you know the beautiful They Draw and Cook website? ...Then you should, if you love food, cook and illustrations.
Artists from all over the world send their illustrated recipes to this site and by scrolling the pages you can make yourself a menu, look for exotic dishes, but most of all enjoy true masterpieces.
There are hundreds of submissions and has already been produced a book that collects some of the most beautiful illustrations realized to date.


I have been following TDAC for a long time now, and always wanted to send my contribution, but it is not easy to illustrate a recipe and see what other illustrators have done is both exciting and terrifying ... Kind of "I'll never do something decent?" thought keeps lurking in your mind.


Then I began to think of something super easy to do at home giggling and smearing all over the kitchen with kids .... something delicious ... chocolate!


I blended together recipe for sweet salami with that for praline chocolate so to make "meatballs" of chocolate to turn into animal's bodies, spiders in this case, with strings of licorice to make the legs and smarties for the eyes ... but you can also do mice as well as all the animals you can think of ...

Making chocolate spiders was perfect for Halooween so I simply added the kids sneaking around in my favorite costumes ... ie the small Spiderman;)

Of course I had to change this a little ... obviously, got caught a little too much by my passion for horror movies...

It took me a long time to finish this artwork, working on it in my spare time between a job and another, and almost despaired to send this in time for Halloween, but there it is inserted into the Happy Halloween collection until October 31.

BlueRed books pubblicati!!!!!!

Eccoli finalmente online i libri illustrati questa primavera per BlueRed Press. e pubblicati negli Stati Uniti da Sandy Creek di Barnes and Noble.

Questi mesi sono stati super impegnativi, con pochissimo tempo per fare qualsiasi cosa ... però quando sta immerso tra principesse, pirati, pony, stagni fatati, cowboys, draghi etc uno mica si può lamentare ;)

Perciò con immensa gioia annuncio l'uscita, a fine settembre, di questi due libri *luccicanti*, ovvero all'interno delle illustrazioni è stata inserita carta sbrilluccicosa e ritagli che i bambini possono toccare e pasticciare.

Un libro è dedicato a pirati in corsa per un tesoro nascosto e l'altro a una dolcissima principessa.

Yayyy here they are!!!! Finally two picture books I have illustrated this spring for BlueRed Press are out and listed online. They are published in the United States by Sandy Creek (Barnes and Noble).


These months have been super busy with little time to do anything ... But when you are surrounded by princesses, pirates, ponies, fairies, enchanted ponds, cowboys, dragons, etc. you can not complain ^^


So with great joy I announce that these two sparkling books can be bought at Barnes&Nobles from the end of September. As these are *sparkling* books every illustrations includes cutouts filled with sparkling paper kids can touch and mess.


One is dedicated to a pirate race to get to a treasure and the other book is about a sweet sweet princess.

Things to do on an Unusual Holiday

Il pacchettino era arrivato già da qualche giorno, ma non avevo avuto il tempo di scattare qualche foto e condividere, lo faccio oggi perchè ho visto che è ufficialmente in vendita il divertentissimo libro a cui ho lavorato alla fine del 2010 con la Autumn Publishing ... non vedevo l'ora!!!! :D :D :D

Si tratta di Things to do on an Unusual Holiday (che trovate qui), della raccolta Travel Time for Kids, un libro di attività, giochi, rompicapo e tanti tanti stickers. E' stato davvero divertente creare le illustrazioni e gli stickers, pensare alla rappresentazione visiva dei vari giochini e quiz.

Mi piacerebbe vedere qualche bambino all'opera :))) sapere se lo trova divertente etc.

Intanto qui una piccola anteprima ;)

IF - asleep

eccoci alla fine di maggio ... accidenti il tempo vola e quì è praticamente estate!

Questa settimana Illustration Friday ha come tema ASLEEP ... ne approfitto subito per partecipare dopo numerose settimane di assenza!
Questa illustrazione è apparsa sul numero di ottobre 2010 della rivista Foglie.AC per il bel racconto "Io + tu + lui + lei" di Elio Giacone ... il racconto diceva Il sole colorava di arancione le ali spiegate del drago mentre la principessa sonnecchiava tenendosi stretta al collo del suo gigantesco amico volante ... e allora ... IF-ASLEEP! ;)

Da un paio di mesi sto lavorando a progetti diversi, illustro, illustro, illustro, con estrema felicità, la collaborazione con Foglie.AC e 4 libricini che usciranno dopo l'estate e prima del Natale ......... caspita!

Purtroppo nulla di quello che sto facendo è mostrabile e mi rimane davvero poco poco tempo per fare altro, anche se le idee si stanno accumulando e il taccuino su cui le appunto è quasi completo.

This week's IF is ASLEEP ... I am happy to give my contribute after this many weeks absence!
This illo was on october 2010 number of Foglie.AC a catholic mag for kids where you can find a beautyful tale with my illustrations on every issue.

In the last few months I have been hard working to 4 different books which I am so-o happy and proud about ... unfortunately I can't show anything ... not a tiny bit ;)
Also I am this busy I hardly can do anything else and while new ideas are coming in I have to write down everything and postpone ... my blocknte is full :D :D

and the winner is ...

Sono stata e sono un po' indaffarata tra principesse, topolini, maialini e pirati ... tutte cose che al momento non posso morstrare e di cui devo attendere, con pazienza *_*, anteprime e uscite  ^_^ ... @_@

Nel frattempo Ilaria mi ha inviato questo Kreativ Blogger Award che, secondo il regolamento, mi sprona a scrivere una lista della spesa con 10 cose che mi riguardano personalmente .... e poi passare la palla ...

Vediamo, 10 cose di me che non avreste voluto/dovuto sapere...



1- sono patologicamente curiosa ...

2- scelgo i libri in base alla copertina

3- mi commuovo per ogni piccola cosa

4- Henri Rousseau è il più grande pittore di tutti i tempi

5- mi mancano le camminate per i sentieri di montagna e il loro contorno di acquile, marmotte e formiche giganti

6- spesso mi si presentano nel naso degli odori che non c'entrano niente e che scatenano tutto un turbinio di ricordi

7- mi piacciono i film blockbuster e il cinema inglese ... tutto il resto è, per lo più, noia!

8- sono Harry Potter addicted ... e in quanto tale non sono soddisfatta di come sono stati fatti i film

9- mi piace immaginare un film dietro ciò che sto osservando

10- odio i piccioni ... loro lo sanno ... e mi hanno preso di mira!

Tandem Jeunesse: personnages imaginaires

Sono online tutti i progetti di questa edizione di Tandem Jeunesse, la numero 8 :))) e la seconda a cui partecipo ;))
Come nelle precedenti edizioni lo scopo di questo progetto è far incontrare autori e illustratori perchè confrontino le rispettive creatività su un tema comune; la scelta quest'anno è caduta sui PERSONAGGI IMMAGINARI.

All children's books projects realized during this year Tandem Jeunesse (number 8) edition, are online. This is the second time I took part into this amazing adventure :))
Like in the past 7th editions this contest's mean is to create synergies between authors and illustrators in order to measure each others creativity.

Il progetto si sviluppa in più tappe, i partecipanti iscritti hanno deciso il tema su cui lavorare, dopodichè gli illustratori hanno proposto una visione del soggetto, gli autori un testo ispirato alle illustrazioni.
Questa la mia proposta:

This year theme was: IMAGINARY CHARACTERS. Tandem Jeunesse has developed through steps, first chase of the theme, then illustrators presented a piece inspired by it, and finally authors wrote a text based on the illustrations.
This was mine:

Régine Garcia ha scritto una bellissima storia basandosi su questa illustrazione.

La storia di un bambino: Lèo che di notte fa terribili incubi popolati di mostri, fantasmi e creature spaventose.
Léo non riesce più a dormire ed è stufo di questa situazione per cui escogita un modo per smettere di avere paura!

Così lo presenta Régine:

Régine Garcia wrote an amazing and funny story based on this illustration.
Léò's story, a child who makes terrible nightmares packed with monsters, ghosts, and frightening creatures.
Léo can't sleep at night and he's tired by this situation, so he develop his way to get rid of those nightmares and fears!
In Régine own words:

THEME : Comment se débarrasser de vilains cauchemars ?


IDEE PRINCIPALE : L’enfant développe lui-même les moyens de se débarrasser des cauchemars récurrents. Il en ressort confiant et grandi.


EXTRAIT:
Il est huit heures. Léo ne veut pas aller au lit. Depuis quelques temps, Léo fait des cauchemars affreux. Il y a même une pieuvre géante qui squatte sous son lit. Il en a marre de se réveiller en pleine nuit et d’appeler son papa. D’ailleurs, son papa aimerait bien dormir une nuit entière sans être réveillé. Et Léo aussi !


Pourtant, ce soir encore, Léo rêve d’un abominable fantôme. Assis sur son lit, il attend que le cauchemar s’en aille. Les minutes passent et Léo attend toujours. Alors, il observe la lune pleine… un rayon de lune caresse soudain son front. Euréka ! Léo a trouvé une solution trop cool !

La nuit suivante, Léo fait encore un cauchemar. Un fantôme frôle sa tête. Il passe et repasse au-dessus de lui. Léo n’a pas oublié son idée géniale...

IF Sweater

This week Illustration Friday theme is Sweater ... though these are busy days I wanted to stop a little and take te time to sketch something for this theme as it brought back many good memories.
